আমার দু:খ জাগার রাতগুলির সঙ্গী আজ সেইতো তোমাকেই হতে হচ্ছে, বুক বিদীর্ণ করা হাহাকার সেইতো এখন তোমাকেই থামাতে হচ্ছে, অনেক কষ্টে বেরিয়ে আসা চোখের জল সেইতো আজ তোমাকেই মুছতে হচ্ছে, আমার কষ্টলাঘবে সেইতো তোমাকেই অসুস্থ শরীর নিয়েও কাটাতে হচ্ছে কত বিনিদ্র রজনী। তবু কেন দিলে আমাকে এত কষ্ট? সব জেনেও কেন আমাকে ঠেলে দিলে ব্যথাদীর্ণ সরোবরে? তুমি তো জানতেই-আমিই তোমার সব, তোমাকে ছাড়া আমার কোনোরকম অস্তিত্ব নেই, তোমার একটুখানি ভুল আমার কতবড়ো ক্ষতি করে দিতে পারে, সর্বনাশ করে দিতে পারে!
কেন এমন করলে তুমি! কেন?
তোমাকে চাই-ভালোবেসেই তোমাকে চাই, হৃদয়ের সাথে হৃদয় মিশিয়ে তোমাকে চাই। তোমাকে চাই আলোর মতো ঝরণাধারায়, ফুলের মতো সুরভি ছটায়, নদীর মতো তরঙ্গমালায়। তোমাকে চাই পাকা ফসলের মতো সোনালি মায়ায়, সবুজ ঘাসের মতো শ্যামল শোভায়, হিমেল বাতাস-গানের মতো সুর লালিমায়। তোমাকে চাই গোধূলি মেঘের মতো রঙের আভায়, পাখির নীড়ের মতো শান্ত ছায়ায়। তোমাকে চাই পরম ভরসায়, বুকের কোণে প্রেম সুরমায়।
তোমাকে ছুঁলাম যেই আমার সামনে খুলে গেল এক সুনীল আকাশ-সেই আকাশের তলে দেখলাম দিব্যি হাসছে এক গোলাপ রাঙা সকাল। এই গোলাপ বাহারি সকাল আমাকে এতটাই মুগ্ধ করল আর অন্য দিকে তাকাবার অবকাশই মিলল না, তাকাবার ইচ্ছেও হল না, এই গোলাপ রাঙা সকাল তখন তোমার সারা শরীরজুড়ে খেলা করছে অনির্বচনীয় এক সৌন্দর্য তোমাকে যেন ভর করেছে-তুমি তখন এতটাই রমণীয় আর সব কিছু আমার কাছে তুচ্ছ হয়ে গেল - মনে হলতুমিই যেন একটা আস্ত পৃথিবী, তোমাকে দেখলে আর কিছু দেখার বুঝি কোনো প্রয়োজন নেই।
রাতেও খুঁজি, দিনেও খুঁজি তোমায় আমি সর্বক্ষণ খুঁজি। বড়ো আপনার জন ভেবে খুঁজি,বড়ো মায়ায় খুঁজি, হৃদয়-মন দিয়ে তোমায় খুঁজি। তোমায় আমি সুখেও খুঁজি-দুখেও খুঁজি, সুসময়-অসময় কোনো সময়েই তোমাকে আমার খোঁজার বাকি থাকে না; বড়ো আনন্দে খুঁজি, বড়ো বেদনায় খুঁজি। আমার প্রেমে খুঁজি, আমার ভালোবাসায়খুঁজি, আমার বুকের চাওয়া দিয়ে খুঁজি, চোখের দেখা দিয়ে খুঁজি, তোমায় আমি স্বপ্নে খুঁজি, আবেগভরা মন নিয়ে খুঁজি; তোমাকে বিরহে খুঁজি, মিলনে খুঁজি। তোমাকে খুঁজি আমি প্রকৃতিতে- নিবিড় বনছায়ায়, তারাভরা আকাশে তোমাকে খুঁজি, তোমাকে খুঁজি আমার প্রাণের সবটুকু গোপন ইচ্ছে দিয়ে, আমার অভিসারে তোমাকে খুঁজি। তোমার ভালোবাসার মধ্যে অপূর্ব এক টান আছে – সেই টানেই আমি বারবার তোমার কাছে ফিরে আসি, তোমার আঁচলতলে মুখ ঢাকি, তোমার বুকের গন্ধ মেখে আমি মাতাল হই। তোমার মুখের মিষ্টি হাসি দিয়ে তুমি আমার অন্তর ভরে দাও, চোখের তারার আলোকছটায় রাঙিয়ে দাও আমার মন-আমার সর্বাঙ্গ, তোমাকে পেলে আমার হৃদয় খুশির ঝাড়বাতি জ্বালে। তোমাকে পেলে আমার ভুবনে কৃষ্ণচূড়া রঙিন পাপড়ি মেলে, আসে পলাশরাঙা বসন্তবেলা, ফাগুন বাতাসের মধুর স্পর্শ অনুভব করি, চির উচ্ছলা-চঞ্চলা এক বেগবতী নদীর সান্নিধ্য পাই-যে নদীতে অবিরাম সাঁতার কাটলেও কোনোরকম ক্লান্তিবোধ আসে না।

আমার দু’চোখ তোমাকেই খুঁজছিল, তন্ন তন্ন করে খুঁজছিল, কোথায় কোন ভিড়ের মাঝে তুমি হারিয়ে আছো সেটাই দেখতে চাইছিল তোমাকে। এই হয়েছে আমার চোখের দোষ, মনের দোষ; চোখ তোমাকে দেখতে চায়, মন তোমাকে খুঁজে ফেরে। তোমাকে একটিবার দেখতে পেলেই দু’চোখ আমার শান্ত হয়, মনের মাঝেও প্রশান্তি নেমে আসে। তুমি এমন মায়ার টানে আমাকে টেনে রেখেছ, এমন ভালোবাসার ছায়ায় ছেয়ে রেখেছ-বারবার তোমার সেই প্রেম, স্নেহের আঁচলে মুখ রাখতে ইচ্ছে করে, তোমার সেই ভালোবাসার ছায়াতলে দাঁড়াতে সাধ জাগে। তোমার প্রেম আমার কাছে দুর্লভ আলোর জোয়ার, আরামের সুশীতল বাতাস। তোমার সান্নিধ্য পেতে তাইতো আমার দু’চোখ তোমাকেই পাগলের মতো খুঁজে মরে, শুধুই খুঁজে মরে।
তোমার দু’টি আঁখি পল্লবে অলৌকিক মায়াজাদু আছে, সেই মায়ার টানই আমাকে গভীরভাবে তোমার দিকে টেনে নিয়ে যায়, মন্ত্রমুগ্ধের মতো আবিষ্ট করে, আমি শুধু চেয়ে চেয়ে দেখি তোমাকে, শুধু তোমাকে। আমার এ চেয়ে দেখার শেষ নেই, নেই কোনোরকম ক্লান্তি আমার, আছে প্রশান্তি, আছে প্রাণের আরাম, আছে মনোমুগ্ধকর স্নিগ্ধ-শীতলতা। তাই তুমি যখন তোমার দু’চোখের কোনায় আমার ঠোঁট রাখতে দাও, আমি পাগল হয়ে যাই, আমি খুঁজে পাই আমার ভালোবাসার নীড়। ঘন নীল সমুদ্রের ঢেউ খেলে যাওয়া তোমার দু’চোখের তারায় সকালের সোনারোদ ঝলমল করে, ছড়িয়ে পড়ে তার আশ্চর্য দ্যুতি! আমি সেই দ্যুতিতে চমকিত হই, অপূর্ব রোমাঞ্চে রোমাঞ্চিত হই। তোমার দু’চোখের অপরূপ লাবণ্য আমার হৃদয়ের স্বপ্ন, প্রেমের স্বর্গ!
