আমি যে ছোট্ট নদীটার কথা বলেছি –তার কথা নিশ্চয়ই ভেবেছো সারাক্ষণ? আমি জানতামই তাকে নিয়ে তুমি ভাববেই- ওই নদীটা যে তোমার কাছে প্রিয়-ঠিক আমারই মতন। ওই নদীটার বুকে ভালোবাসার ঢেউ খেলা করে, প্রাণের গান বাজে। গভীর রহস্যের মায়াজাল বিস্তার করে বয়ে গেছে সুদূর কল্পলোকের দিকে - কোথায় মিশেছে বোঝা দায়! ওই নদীটা যে স্বপ্নের নদী, ওর বালুচরে ছড়িয়ে আছে রাশি রাশি মুক্তোবিন্দু। ছোট্ট নদী, অথচ কী তার ব্যাপ্তি, কী তার মহিমা! সাধ হয়- ওখানে হারিয়ে যাই, ওখানে অবগাহন করে নিজেকে সার্থক করে তুলি; কবে তুমি শোনাবে ওই নদীটার গল্প?
জ্যোত্স্না কথা বলছিল নদীর সাথে, নদীটার এমন দুর্মতি তন্ময় হয়ে তা শুনছিল-খেয়াল করেনি জ্যোত্স্না তাকে ভাসিয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে। আমার ভারি রাগ হল নদীটার উপর-জ্যোত্স্নার প্রতি তার এত কিসের ভাব-এত কিসের টান?নদীর সঙ্গে তো আমার ভাব, নদী তো আমাকে ভালোবাসে-যখন খুশি আমি তার সঙ্গে মিশে যাই, তার স্নিগ্ধ-শীতল জলে অবগাহন করি, ইচ্ছে মতন ডুব সাঁতার দিই, সেই আমাকে ছেড়ে জ্যোত্স্নার প্রতি অনুরাগ জন্মালো কী করে?জ্যোত্স্না বোধহয় বুঝতে পারল আমার কথা, বলল-এই তুমি নদীটাকে ঈর্ষা করছো কেন? নদীকে যেমন তুমি ভালোবাসো-তেমনি তো তুমি আমাকেও ভালোবাসো-তবে রাগ কেন? তুমি আমাকে ভালোবাসো, নদীকে ভালোবাসো-একইসাথে মানুষকে ভালোবাসো-তোমার তো ঈর্ষা করা সাজে না।
সুদৃশ্য দু’টো পাহাড়ের মাঝ বরাবর যে ছোট্ট নদীটা বয়ে গেছে রহস্যের মায়াজাল ছড়িয়ে, শঙ্খমুখ নাভি ছুঁয়ে অতল সাগরের পানে- সেই নদীটা যখন তখন আমাকে অলৌকিকভাবে টানে, দুরন্ত কামনা জাগায় – ওই নদীটায় গা ডুবিয়ে নিজেকে সিক্ত করে নিই, তপ্ত হৃদয়টা জুড়িয়ে নিই। আমি তো জানি- ওই নদীটা অন্য কারুর নয়-একান্তভাবেই আমার নদী, আমার ভালোবাসার নদী, আমার প্রাণের নদী, আমার স্বপ্নের নদী। ওই নদীটার সাথে আমার খুব করে কথা বলতে সাধ হয়, ইচ্ছে করে বুকের মাঝে জড়িয়ে ধরে জনম-জনম হারিয়ে যাই। নদী, তুমি আমাকে তোমার করে নাও। নদী তোমার সঙ্গে আমার ভাব তোমার মিষ্টিজলে পিপাসা মিটাবো বলে, তোমার স্নিগ্ধ-শীতলতায় অবগাহন করবো বলে, তোমার ঢেউয়ের দোলায় দুলবো বলে, তোমার অলৌকিক স্রোতে নাও ভাসাবো বলে, আজীবন তোমার সাথে মিতালি পাতাবো বলে, তোমার সাথে ভাসতে ভাসতে আমার হৃদয়ের কথা শোনাবো বলে, তোমার সাথে চির আকাঙ্ক্ষিত নির্ভেজাল প্রেমের রাজ্যে পাড়ি জমাবো বলে।
আমার প্রিয় নদীটা হঠাত-ই আমায় হাতছানি দিয়ে ডাকল, উ! সে কী পাগল করা ডাক, মিলনের সে কী প্রবল আকুতি! আমি সাড়া না দিয়ে পারলাম না, দুর্নিবার আকর্ষণে তার দুরন্ত বক্ষে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়লাম। জল ছপছপে শরীর, ভিজে নেয়েএকসা হলাম আমি, পরম তৃপ্তি আর সুখের আবেশে কখন বুঝি হারিয়ে গেলাম। আবেশ কাটতেই দেখি নদী কোথায়? নদীটা কখন হয়ে গেছ তুমি, নিবিড় আলিঙ্গনে আমাকে জড়িয়ে রয়েছো তুমি-তোমাকে জড়িয়ে আমি; তুমি আর আমি মিলেমিশে একাকার।
ফেলে আসা বছরের মন্দ যা কিছু চিরতরে দিলাম বিদায়, ভালোটুকু সাদরে গ্রহণ করে নতুন ভোরকে স্বাগত জানালাম। নব প্রভাতের নব আলোকরেণু মেখে আগামী চলার পথকে সুন্দরময় করে তোলার শপথ নিলাম। যা কিছু মঙ্গল, যা কিছু কল্যাণকর আমাদের জীবনে তাই হোক শুধু পাথেয়। যে অমলিন ভালোবাসায়, পারস্পরিক শ্রদ্ধায় দু’জন দু’জনার হাতে রেখেছি হাত, অন্তরের সাথে অন্তরকে করেছি যোগ, হৃদয়ের সাথে হৃদয়ের ঘটিয়েছি বন্ধন তা চির অটুট থাক, অম্লান থাক সারা জীবন’ভর। কোনোরূপ প্ররোচনায়, কোনোরূপ প্রলোভন আমাদের প্রেমকে কোনোমতেই যাতে কলুষিত করতে না পারে, বিচলিত করতে না পারে সেই দৃঢ় অঙ্গীকার নিলাম নব আলোকের নবরেণু মেখে। আমাদের ভালোবাসা চির অক্ষয় হোক, চির সম্পদ হয়ে বুকের মাঝে ভরা থাক।

The river says I will quench my thirst for your sweet water, I will bathe in your softness and coolness, I will sway in your waves, I will not float in your miraculous current, I will be with you forever, I will float with you, I will listen to my heart, He says that he will move to the realm of unquenchable unconditional love.
My favorite river suddenly called me by hand, U! What a crazy call, what a strong desire to meet! I could not help but respond, I jumped into his naughty chest with irresistible attraction.
